AWARD WINNERS FOR 2022

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CAC was most pleased to be able to hold their annual awards ceremony for 2022 in person at the Cheltenham Playhouse on Wednesday 9th March.  The ceremony was very well attended. Edward Gillespie, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire and CAC president presented the awards. Martin Horwood, cabinet member for the Cheltenham Borough Council was also present and spoke warmly of the award winners as well as mentioning the situation we are all now facing in Ukraine.   A list of award winners is below.  Congratulations to them all!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WEBSTER CUP
The Webster Cup is awarded to a young person, 18 years or under, who has made an outstanding contribution in their branch of the arts. The Award is not limited to members of affiliated societies and nomination is open to members of the public.
The 2022 winner was Sophia Jackson (nominated by the Cheltenham Children’s Choir).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHELTENHAM OPERA GROUP CUP
This cup is awarded to an individual or group for enterprise and innovation in music-making.
The 2022 winner was Amber Smith of Cheltenham Children’s’ Choir ( nominated by the Arts Society of Cheltenham)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VISUAL ARTS AWARD
This cup is awarded for excellence in the field of visual arts, which in this context includes painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, design, crafts, street art, installations, video, filmmaking and architecture. Nominees for this award need not be affiliated with a member organisation.
The 2022 winner was Bob Gower (nominated by Niki Whitfield of Open Studios)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHARLES IRVING SPONSORSHIP AWARD
This is an award to recognize a local business that has provided exceptional support through sponsorship of the voluntary arts in Cheltenham.
In 2022, we were very pleased to give the award to Paul Bridges, photographer ( nominated by the Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society) .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOYNER CUP
This cup goes to the most outstanding of each year’s award nominations, as determined by the committee of Cheltenham Arts Council.
In 2022, we recognized the contribution of Martin Fry, who was nominated by the Cheltenham Camera Club.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CITATIONS
Citations were also awarded to Molly Abbott  (Cheltenham Open Studios), , John and Margaret Bristol ( Cheltenham Bach Choir) , Rod Davis  (Cheltenham Arts Council), Angela Walker  (Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra) and the Holst Rebranding Project Team (Holst Victorian House).
