This issue of Perspectives includes details of a wonderful project to enliven the environment in the Bath Road area, where prosaic utility boxes have become works of art. On a similar theme, by the time you read this, the Cheltenham Paint Festival will once again have adorned the town with some truly fantastic artwork. It really lifts the spirits to walk or drive a familiar route and see it transformed.
We also take a look back at the childhood of Cheltenham’s famous son Gustav Holst, reflected in a fascinating exhibition at the Holst Birthplace Museum. While childhood doesn’t seem to have been a particularly happy time for the young Gustav, the same can’t be said for the kids involved in the debut production by the CODS Youth Theatre – the reviews from the participants are just lovely.
